Here we are again!!!!

It's school time again! You're probably feeling excited and maybe a little sad that summer is over. Some kids feel nervous or a little scared on the first day of school because of all the new things: new teachers, new friends, and maybe even a new school. Luckily, these "new" worries only stick around for a little while. Let's find out more about going back to school. The First Day Most teachers kick off the school year by introducing themselves and talking about all the stuff you'll be doing that year. Some teachers give students a chance to tell something about themselves to the rest of the class. When teachers do the talking on the first day, they often go over classroom rules so you'll know what's allowed and what's not. Pay close attention so you'll know if you need to raise your hand to ask a question and what the rules are about visiting the restroom. You might already know a lot of people in your classes on the first day. But it's a great day to make a new friend, so try to say hello to kids you know and new ones that you don't. Make the first move and you'll be glad you did and so will your new friend! It can make you feel good to be prepared and have all the supplies you need. Some schools distribute supply lists before the year begins, so you can come stocked up on pencils, folders, and whatever else you'll be needing. Here are a few final tips for a fantastic first day: Get enough sleep. Eat a healthy breakfast. Try your best. Develop good work habits, like writing down your assignments and turning in your homework on time. Take your time with school work. If you don't understand something, ask the teacher. Keep a sense of humor. One teacher we know shows his new students a picture of himself graduating high school - a grinning ape in a red graduation cap and gown. This usually makes the kids laugh, and it's a good way to remind them that school is fun!

Girona: I love you....I miss you.

I lived in Girona for 10 years and many important things happened to me during this decade: I started teaching English, I got married, my children were born there and I met my best life-time friends... I became a full grown -up, an adult woman in this small, beautifull city in the North-East of Catalonia. People say that it is as difficult to love Girona when you first go to live there as it is to forget about it when you leave it. It is absolutelly true. There are places you fall in love at first sight, places you always want to go back to.... Can you tell me what is this place for you? What is it like? What does it smell of? Give me a picture in words of this place.

April's Fool day?

Now you now a litlle more about Britain's culture. Sorry, I like jokes. You will never forget this one. April's FoolsDay. April Fool's Day or All Fool's Day occurs annually on April 1. The day is generally observed by playing a practical joke on a "victim" who soon becomes known as an April Fool. This custom is thought to have started in France during the 16th century but the British are credited with bringing it to the United States. The commonly accepted origin of April Fool's Day involves changes in the calendar. At one time, the New Year celebration began on March 25 and ended on April 1. However, in 1582, King Charles IX adopted the Gregorian calendar and accepted the beginning of the new year as January 1. Those who refused to acknowledge the new date or simply forgot received foolish gifts and invitations to nonexistent parties. The butt of such a prank was known as a "poisson d'avril" or "April fish."

8th February Let's go to the theatre

As you well know, on the 8th of February we are going to Lo casino to enjoy a theatre play NOT ONE OF US
Not One of Us is a comic play about a not so funny situation – intolerance towards others. Jack is a new boy at school and he is odd. There’s no getting away from it. He is unusual, not like the other kids. He thinks differently, has a different cultural base. His clothes are far from fashionable and his values don’t really fit in. Not One of Us looks at Jack’s first week at school and how two different cultures (Jack’s and everybody else’s) clash and how they try to work things out.
On the English Theatre Company you can find different activities and information related to this play. Let's learn and enjoy!!!

How embarrassing!!!!

In class I 've told you many of my embarrassing situations.. I know it is a good collection and some of you do not believe me... fair enough...you do not have to believe everything you hear... but you think I am on my forties and , at my age , you have a Master on many good , bad, happy, embarrassing things... Now it is you turn... Tell me yours..please... make laugh!!!!
