PLAY 3 : Britain's talents

Susan Boyle. What a surprise!!! Susan Boyle (born 1 April, 1961)[2][3][4] is a Scottish[5] singer and church volunteer who came to public attention on 11 April 2009,[6] when she appeared as a contestant on the third series of Britain's Got Talent.[7] Boyle found fame when she sang "I Dreamed a Dream" from Les Misérables in the competition's first round.[8] Before she sang, both the audience and the judges appeared to express scepticism based on her unpolished appearance. In contrast, her vocal performance was so well received that she has been dubbed "The Woman Who Shut Up Simon Cowell."[4] She received a standing ovation from the live audience, garnering yes-votes from Cowell and Amanda Holden, and the "biggest yes I have ever given anybody" from Piers Morgan.[9] The audition was recorded in January 2009 at the Clyde Auditorium in Glasgow, Scotland,[10] and was first broadcast on Saturday, 11 April 2009 in Britain. The juxtaposition of the reception to her voice with the audience's first impression of her triggered global interest. Articles about her appeared in newspapers all over the world, while the numbers who watched videos of her audition set an online record.[11] By 20 April 2009, a mere 9 days after her televised debut, viral videos of her audition, subsequent interviews of her, and her 1999 rendition of "Cry Me a River" had been viewed over 100 million times on the Internet.[12] Cowell is reported to be setting up a contract with Boyle with his Syco Music company label, a subsidiary of Sony Music.[13].

SAINT GEORGE

Saint George (ca. 275/281 – 23 April 303) was, according to tradition, a Roman soldier in the Guard of Diocletian, who is venerated as a Christian martyr. In hagiography Saint George is one of the most venerated saints in the Roman Catholic Church, Anglican Church, Eastern Orthodox Church, Oriental Orthodoxy, and the Eastern Catholic Churches. He is immortalized in the tale of Saint George and the Dragon and is one of the Fourteen Holy Helpers. His memorial is celebrated on 23 April, and he is regarded as one of the most prominent military saints. Saint George is the patron saint of Aragon, Catalonia, England, Ethiopia, Georgia, Greece, Lithuania, Palestine, Portugal, and Russia, as well as the cities of Amersfoort, Beirut, Bteghrine, Cáceres, Spain, Ferrara, Freiburg, Genoa, Ljubljana, Gozo, Pomorie, Qormi, Lod, and Moscow, as well as a wide range of professions, organizations, and disease sufferers.
In Catalonia we celebrate this day in a very special way as it is also associated with the day of l0ve: Boys give a red rose the ones they love and girls buy books to boys .
What are your feelings about San Jordi? Can you tell me if you got any good books? Would you recomment any ofthem?

Minerals and Rocks

It is not easy to tell the difference between rocks & minerals because there are so many kinds of them. It takes years of study to be able to accurately identify a mystery rock and even then rockhounds want to know where the specimen came from. First of all I want you to have a look at some specific vocabulary , essential if you are to describe them: Color, luster, specific gravity, crystal form, cleavage, fracture, tenacity, hsrdness and transparency. You can also find a glossary of words and phrases and their definitions. Maybe it is a good idea to have a complete list of rocks and minerals toguether with their pictures, don't you thing? Click on this link and you will have all the minerals and roocks at hand.
